Standing outside a store in Boulder Colorado waiting on the Mother when women in pic
walks up to me and says you're Tom Jeffreys.  I am.  She's a customer from about 13 years
ago.  She now works at the Ledges and was in Boulder visiting daughter.   Spooky   Sally's
Van was in Boise, Idaho.   I lettered it about 15 years ago.  Spooky #2.  Other pics
are of neat scenery along the road.  Some pretty desolate countryside.  Wyoming was the
worse.  Miles between stops. Gunslinger 66.  Leave for home in the morning.  Tired. (No,
flat out worn out).  Dog is actually a Timber Wolf.  Both of us are DONE.  The Incredible
journey is almost over.

Friday, all day in Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park.
Big grey mountains are the Grand Tetons.  People die climbing those.
Next comes Old Faithful and numerous hot springs around the park.
Then we have Buffalo,  Elk, and me with an old freind.  Videos are of falls
on the Yellowstone River.   Sunset is behind the Tetons.   Beautiful weather
In three weeiks we have had 1/2 day of rain.   Tomorrow it's on to Boulder.
We toured today with three other couples our age.  Geriatric sight seeing.
Better than little kids.  Actually Yellowstone will start shutting down roads for
the winter in a week or two.  Only open for snowmobiles for the winter.
We timed it perfect,  no crowds or kids.

Arrived in Jackson Hole Wyoming this afternoon.  Traveled the steepest road and
the sharpest drop offs I have ever seen.  Very scary but the Mother insisted on driving the
whole way. Beautiful scenery even if it is straight down.   Tomorrow we leave the driving to them.
As you can see I met some new freinds today.  Haven't seen Dicik Chaney yet.  Dave,  We
had buffalo brisquet for dinner tonight.  Ok but not ready to live on indian food yet.  Thanks
Sarah and Chris  (Leslis' freinds in Boise)  Yes she did warn them about me but they paid for
dinner anyway.  Had a great time.  We will share your snacks with the other people on our tour
tomorrow.  Well the tour starts tomorrow at 7:15 and lasts for 8 1/2 hours,  we will spend
tomorrow night here in Jackson Hole.  Might get to see Dick yet.  The picture of the archway
is made of antlers.  Looking forward to tomorrow and after Boulder, heading home.  Should
be back in Huntsville next Thursday.  A different hotel every night for 30 days gets a
little tiring after a while.  Bathrooms in a different place every night.

On our way to Portland today.   White mountain is Mt Shasta (covered with snow)
Beautiful.    Oregon has the best scenery of any state so far.  Spending night in Portland.
GPS sent us through downtown Portland.  Not good.  Full of tall bridges, tall overpasses
and traffic.  Wigged out the Mother.  Not pretty but she got through it.  Made reservations
for 8 1/2 hour tour of Yosemety on Friday.  Driving narrow cliff edged road thru mountains
not on our agenda.  Set back, take pics and let the experts take us to all the best spots.
Expensive but smart.   Tomorrow it's Boise Idaho to meet a freind of Leslis.  She's allready
warned her about me.  Thursday we drive to Jackson Hole Wyoming.  The tour will pic us up
at our hotel at 7:15 am.  After Yosemety,  it's on to Boulder for a little shopping for the mother,
then Monday or Tuesday we head for home.

A few pics I missed yesterday.     First house Mother lived in when she was about 12
years old in Salinas, CA    Second house was her grandmothers house when Mother was 6 or 7
years old.    Time flys.   I forgot the vulture pic.  Meat eaters.   Tonight we're in Redding, CA
Tomorrow we head to Portland, Oregon and then we head east toward the rockies and possibly
colder temps.  More tomorrow.

Sunday, September 19, 2010

It's Sunday, our day of no travel.  Well,  very little. Big Sur,  Redwood Forest,
and the California coast up to Carmel the Salinas.    Big, Very BIG trees,  Stopped
to see some vultures eating somebody on the side of the road,   then up the coast.   Beautiful
scenery,   had to stand on edge of cliff to get pictures.  The road winds up the hills all along
water and cliffs edge.  The mother white knuckled it all the way to Carmel.   Salinas is
where The Mother lived many, many years age.  Found the house where she lived.  Cool.
Tomorrow we go to Walnut Creek outside of San Fransisco.  Mothers Grandmother
lived there.   After that we head north toward Portland.   Rol'n  on.
